American ride-hailing giant Uber has introduced a women-only bike taxi service, ‘Uber Moto Women,’ in Bengaluru, Karnataka. The initiative is aimed at addressing women’s safety and mobility concerns while creating flexible earning opportunities for female drivers.
This unique service exclusively connects women riders with women drivers for on-demand two-wheeler rides. It incorporates advanced safety features such as real-time trip sharing with trusted contacts, phone number anonymization, and hidden drop-off addresses to protect user privacy.
Additionally, Uber Moto Women includes RideCheck, a system designed to detect irregularities such as prolonged stops, route deviations, or mid-way drops, ensuring immediate assistance when needed. Riders and drivers also have access to Uber’s 24×7 Safety Helpline, with priority support for women.
The initiative is expected to boost women’s confidence in using bike taxis while empowering female drivers with income opportunities. This marks another step towards creating safer and more inclusive mobility solutions in India.
